When Monica Davis first shared her IVF journey, she thought it would end the way many people imagine it does—with a pregnancy announcement. Instead, she’s traveled a fertility journey she never expected.

After four rounds of IVF, dozens of embryos, and months of emotional and physical strain, the Love Is Blind alum is opening up on pregnantish about what infertility actually looks like behind the scenes, and why she’s choosing to step back, reset, and still believe in her future as a mom.

(Monica shares even more about her journey—including details she hasn’t spoken about publicly—on the latest episode of the pregnantish podcast. Listen here or watch on YouTube.)

“I Thought I Knew What IVF Looked Like”

Like many women, Monica entered the IVF process feeling somewhat informed.

“I thought I knew a lot….” she says. But nothing prepared her for the reality.

Over the course of eight months, Monica went through four back-to-back IVF cycles.

The early numbers gave her hope:

  • 90 eggs retrieved
  • 65 mature
  • 29 embryos

“You think, ‘Okay, this is going to work,’” she says.

But anyone who has gone through the process knows all too well about the unexpected twists and turns.

“We just struggled to get to the blastocyst stage,” she explains. “I didn’t even know that was something that could happen.”

After multiple cycles, only one embryo made it through genetic testing.

They call this embryo “Golden.”

The Call She Never Expected

For Monica, one of the most shocking moments wasn’t physical, it was emotional.

“Getting 30+ eggs and then getting a call that none made it to the next stage… I didn’t know that was possible,” she says.

It’s a lesser-discussed reality of IVF and one that leaves many patients blindsided.

“You think the hard part is the transfer or a miscarriage,” she adds. “But there are so many steps before that where things can stop.”

When Sharing Becomes Your Identity

Monica began documenting her journey on social media, posting videos of injections, appointments, and the emotional highs and lows.

At first, it felt natural.

“I thought I’d share one video, and then I’d be pregnant,” she says.

But as cycles failed, her story evolved, and so did her audience. What she didn’t expect was how deeply it would become part of her identity.

“It became my life. It became what people knew me for,” she says. “People would come up to me and say, ‘We know you have an appointment Monday—we’re thinking of you.’”

The support was powerful and at times, also overwhelming.

Why She Pressed Pause After Four Rounds

After her fourth IVF cycle, the most difficult one yet, Monica and her partner Zac made a decision to pause.

“I was like, I need a break,” she says. “I want to go to the gym and not think about doctor calls. I want to feel like myself again.”

Now, she and her partner are taking time to travel, reconnect, and step outside the constant cycle of treatment.

Their one embryo—Golden—remains frozen.

“One last thought Monica Wants Others to Know: I Wish I Had Frozen My Eggs”

Looking back, Monica is candid about one thing she would have done differently.

“I wish I had frozen my eggs,” she says. She wants to share this detail so that others also listen to their hearts and are proactive about fertility.

In her early 30s, she explored it, but was told by a doctor that she had time. Life moved quickly after that, and by the time she returned to fertility care after being on Love is Blind, things had changed.

“It felt like it happened overnight,” she says.

It’s a message she now shares openly, especially with younger women who may not yet be thinking about fertility.

How She’s Holding Onto Hope

Through connecting with thousands of people in the infertility community, she’s found strength in shared stories and in letting go of rigid timelines.

“This journey has taught me that more than anything,” she says.

Despite a tough journey towards parenthood, Monica is clear about one thing: “I know I’m going to be a mom – and a really good one.”

Tru Niagen Attended the SUR event to Educate on the Importance of NAD for Issues like Inflammation and Cellular Health

In the same pregnantish podcast episode, fertility and nutrition expert Mona Rosene joins the conversation to break down the science behind cellular health and fertility.

She explains how compounds like NAD (a molecule involved in cellular energy and repair) and nutrients like vitamin B3 may play a role in supporting overall reproductive health.

The takeaway? There’s no single solution—but understanding the science can help people feel more informed and empowered as they navigate their own paths.

Tru Niagen (patented nicotinamide riboside or NR) is safe and clinically proven to elevate NAD+ levels. It has been accepted by the U.S. FDA as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) and is backed by 45+ published human clinical studies, 300+ published studies, and has the highest quality standards. Research has shown that taking 1,000mg of Tru Niagen daily can increase NAD+ by up to 150% within three weeks.

Monica’s Love Story Continues

For Monica, this chapter may not look the way she once imagined, but it hasn’t changed what she wants. She’s re-claiming parts of herself and what brings her joy outside of trying for a baby with Zac but clear that she will become a mom one day.

As pregnantish founder and podcast host shared on the episode, “This is still a love story…perhaps the greatest one of all.”
